Mb-1 Mahogany Fretless Bass #336 (used, mint condition)
Mb-1 Mahogany Fretless Bass #336 (used, mint condition)
This Mb-1 bass dates to 2002, and was a custom order. It so happens that it is also one of a kind, as this wood combination with a lacquer finish like this was never duplicated. The semi-hollow body is made from a single piece of mahogany, with a lightly flamed mahogany top, and faux tortoiseshell celluloid nitrate binding. The finish is a combination of stain on the raw wood, and then a sunburst nitrocellulose lacquer finish over that. The sheen of the lacquer is satin, so still very natural looking (it is not buffed to a high gloss). The body back is an oil rubbed finish.
The neck is made from birdseye maple, with a lined fretless fingerboard made from Macasser ebony, and a matching bridge.
In case you are wondering the "Mb-1" models were made in the early 2000's with a lacquer finish on the body face only, and came in various colors. Mb-2 models have an oil finish for the whole body. Otherwise they are in essence the same model.
This particular bass was a "limited edition" due to the extra nice woods used, and the custom sunburst finish.
This instrument has had very little use is in the past 22 years, and is in mint condition. It has had a full service, a new piezo pickup element, a new saddle, and new strings. It comes with the first edition of the hardshell case, also in mint condition. So here is your chance to have a "new" vintage Mb-1~
