Mouse 30 Maple Short Scale Fretless #1610
Mouse 30 Maple #1610. This unique Mouse 30 features a semi-hollow alder body, with a truly stunning one piece curly maple top. This rare wood comes from a large block that I acquired back in the early 2000’s, it was enough to make about 10 instruments, and this is the last piece. It was harvested in the 70’s so I estimate it at about 50 years of seasoning until now. It has an incredibly rich honey/amber color to it by nature (no stain is used) and is iridescent from every angle. It’s quite unusual to find a block of wood large enough to fit a whole bass body, without flaws, and with the proper grain pattern and orientation……it doesn’t get much better than this, and will not be repeated!
The 30 inch scale neck is made from mahogany, and features a Goncalo Alves fingerboard, with maple “fret” lines that are inlaid into the fret slots and then sanded perfectly flush. The matching bridge is also made from Goncalo Alves. Strings are La Bella 760n, a steel flatwound string with a thin nylon outer wrap. These have a very smooth feel and make playing in tune easy, as you can glide right to pitch. Lightly rolling your finger to either side will also accomplish fine tuning.
A custom made form fit case is included, it fits the bass like a hand in a glove, and is made locally, from G & G cases in Los Angeles, Ca.
