Deep 4 Koa #1551. This D4 model features a semi-hollow alder body, with a koa top (from 50+ year old stock). The 34” scale, 5 pc. laminate neck is made from eastern black walnut with ebony strips. The fingerboard (with the integrated thumbrest option) and bridge are made from some special Indian rosewood I been saving, the wood has been seasoning over 30 years- perfect for instrument making. The wood is very even in response with a warm tone. There is a matching rosewood overlay on the head stock. I have moved the stacked treble/bass control from the bridge mounting to the face of the body for this and future models, as I have found that this gives better access fro palm muting technique, which tends to work well with this model. A locally made, custom hard shell case is included.
