Mb-2 Koa 5 String#1542. This Mb-2 bass features a semi-hollow alder body, with a curly koa top and faux tortoiseshell binding. This koa is from old stock, aged for over 50 years- perfect for instrument making. This particular piece can look quite subtle from some angles, and dramatically 3D from others, I posted a couple photos taken in direct sunlight to illustrate this. It’s really the beauty of certain wood, in that it is dynamic in response to the lighting/atmosphere. The 35” scale neck is made from eastern birdseye maple, with a rare light colored Macasser ebony fingerboard and matching bridge. The lined fretless fingerboard features maple wood “lines” inset in what would normally be the fret slots. They are then sanded down for a perfectly smooth fingerboard with line markers. A deluxe quality gig bag with a built in frame for extra rigidity is included.
