Mb-2 Walnut 6 String- this is a very unique and exceptional piece, it is one of only a handful of Mb-2 (6) string basses to have ever been made, and there are no plans for future production of this model. It was made in 2012, and has been completely reconditioned, including a full disassembly, leveling of the fingerboard, re-fret, new tuners, new piezo pickup elements, a new nut, and refinishing of the neck and body. For the body in particular, care was taken to maintain the amber toned color of the original (aged) finish, and after just a light sanding, the application of a couple tops coats of oil and carnuba wax.

The body is an exceptionally nice one piece ash, semi hollow design, with a Claro walnut top, and faux tortoiseshell binding. This particular walnut hails from Northern California and has an incredible warmth to it, both sonically and visually. The neck is made from 3 pieces of black walnut, with two ebony strips. This 5 piece construction makes for an extremely stable and even sounding neck. The fingerboard is Indian rosewood, and the headstock has a curly walnut overlay with matching binding like the body. The frets are very small mandolin sized; this renders only a small amount of metal in the string path, which helps to keep the tone warm and woody, plus they are very easy to play. The La Bella 760 strings have an outer wrapping of black nylon, which produces virtually no wear on the frets. The bass is strung from C to low B.

The electronics are unique also, in that it has the preamp from the Deep 4 model, which allows the blending of a custom made magnetic pickup with the piezo, plus the added option of EQ. The controls are as follows: the bass side of the bridge has a stacked cut/boost for treble (top knob) and bass (bottom knob), and the treble side of the bridge has a master volume (top) and a blend control (bottom) between the piezo and magnetic pickups.

The bass weighs on at only 7 lbs, and comes in a new custom made G&G case, that fits the bass snuggly, like a hand in a glove, allowing zero movement.
